ABSTRACT:
A surge absorber comprises a housing, electrode bars, leads and an air chamber. A core constituted by layers of conductive and non-conductive material is provided between the electrode bars. The air chamber is filled with inert gases. The materials of the conductive and non-conductive layers can be arbitrarily laminated to form an integrated body, and the shape of the core may be multiple stepped tower-like. The working voltage is 80 V-3668 volts, and the discharging light emitting time is less than 10.sup.-6 sec.
