ABSTRACT:
Surface-coating binders and their use. The binders are reaction products of (A) Mannich bases obtained from one or more condensed phenols, free from ether groups, which contain two or more phenolic hydroxyl groups per molecule, one or more butadiene or isoprene homopolymers or copolymers which contain one or more ##STR1## groups per molecule and have a mean molecular weight of from 500 to 6,000, one or more secondary amines which contain one or more hydroxyalkyl groups per molecule, or a mixture of such secondary amines with another secondary amine, and formaldehyde or a formaldehyde donor, with (B) one or more epoxy resins. These surface-coating binders are used especially for the cathodic electrocoating of metal articles.
