The invention relates to a support structure1for mammography, comprising a stand2and an arm structure3attached thereto. The support structure1further comprises a scanner head cover6attached to the arm structure3. The scanner head cover6comprises a vertical side portion6a, and is designed so that a cavity12is formed between the vertical surface portion6aand a vertical part3bof the arm structure3, whereby the cavity12provides space for an arm of a patient during imaging. A more comfortable posture is provided for a patient.
