ABSTRACT:
Disclosed are a composition and a method of preparing a composition of the formula R.sub.2 Q.sub.4 Cu.sub.7 O.sub.x, wherein R is a rare-earth ion or a mixture of rare earth ions, and Q is Ba, or Ba combined with either Sr or Ca or both Sr and Ca. Such compositions have a unique crystalline structure and are superconducting oxides.
