ABSTRACT:
A noble metal is supported on an upstream-side catalytic portion20at least, and an SOxstorage material, such as Mg and K that lower the noble metal's activities, is supported on a downstream-side catalytic portion21. The noble metal being supported on the upstream-side catalytic portion20oxidizes SO2efficiently to turn it into SOx, because the lowering of oxidizing activities is suppressed. These SOxare retained by means of storage in the SOxstorage material being loaded on the downstream-side catalytic portion21. Therefore, the SOxstoring performance improves, and it is good in terms of durability as well.
