ABSTRACT:
Novel salts of .alpha.-substituted-.beta.-sulfosuccinic acids having the general formula: ##STR1## wherein R is hydrogen or an organic moiety, Z is selected from the group consisting of O, S, SO, SO.sub.2, N and NO and M is an alkali metal, ammonium or substituted ammonium cations, useful as detergents and/or detergent builders and detergent compositions containing same.
