ABSTRACT:
Disclosed are detergent-dispersant additives useful in lubricating oils prepared by neutralizing an alkylphenol sulfonic acid, followed by sulfurizing/over-alkalinizing the salt obtained and then carbonating the resultant salt.
Lubricating compositions comprising a lubricating oil and from about 1 to about 30% by weight of the final composition of a detergent-dispersant additive of the invention are also disclosed.
