ABSTRACT:
The present invention discloses the use of a mutantLeishmaniaas a suicidal vaccine wherein the mutantLeishmaniais responsive to external signals to become porphyric and commit suicidal cytolysis. The mutant can be selected from naturalLeishmaniaspecies or constructed by genetic engineering.
