DESCRIPTION:

BRIEF SUMMARY
The present invention relates to substituted 4-benzoylpyrazoles of the formula I ##STR3## where:
R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 are each hydrogen, mercapto, nitro, halogen, cyano, thiocyanato, C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 -alkyl, C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 -haloalkyl, C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 -alkoxy, C.sub.2 -C.sub.6 -alkenyl, C.sub.2 -C.sub.6 -alkynyl, --OR.sup.10, --OCOR.sup.10, --OSO.sub.2 R.sup.10, --S(O).sub.n R.sup.10, --SO.sub.2 OR.sup.10, --SO.sub.2 NR.sup.3 R.sup.10, --NR.sup.10 SO.sub.2 R.sup.10 or --NR.sup.10 COR;
Q is a pyrazole of the formula II, ##STR4## which is attached in position 4 and where
R.sup.11 is C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 -alkyl, C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 -haloalkyl, phenyl or phenyl which is partially or fully halogenated and/or carries one to three of the following radicals: nitro, cyano, C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkyl, C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -haloalkyl, C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkoxy, C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -haloalkoxy;
R.sup.12 is hydrogen, C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 -alkyl, C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 -haloalkyl, C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 -alkylcarbonyl, C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 -haloalkylcarbonyl, C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 -alkoxycarbonyl, C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 -alkylsulfonyl, C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 -haloalkylsulfonyl, phenylcarbonyl, phenylcarbonylmethyl, phenoxycarbonyl or phenylsulfonyl, where the last four substituents are unsubstituted or the phenyl ring in question is partially or fully halogenated and/or carries one to three of the following radicals: nitro, cyano, C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkyl, C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -haloalkyl, C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkoxy, C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -haloalkoxy;
R.sup.13 is hydrogen, C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 -alkyl or C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 -haloalkyl;
A is a group of the formula IIIa, IIIb or IV ##STR5## where:
R.sup.3 is hydrogen, C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 -alkyl or phenyl, where the alkyl and phenyl radicals mentioned may be partially or fully halogenated and/or may carry one to three of the following groups: hydroxy, mercapto, amino, cyano, R.sup.10, --OR.sup.10, --SR.sup.10, --NR.sup.3 R.sup.10, .dbd.NOR.sup.10, --OCOR.sup.10, --SCOR.sup.10, --NR.sup.3 COR.sup.10, --CO.sub.2 R.sup.10, --COSR.sup.10, --CONR.sup.3 R.sup.10, C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkyliminooxy, C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkoxyamino, C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkylcarbonyl, C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkoxy-C.sub.2 -C.sub.6 -alkoxycarbonyl, C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkylsulfonyl, heterocyclyl, heterocyclyloxy, phenyl, benzyl, hetaryl, phenoxy, benzyloxy and hetaryloxy, where the last eight radicals may in turn be substituted;
R.sup.4 -R.sup.7 may be identical or different and, independently of the others, each is: hydrogen, hydroxyl, mercapto, amino, halogen, C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 -alkyl, C.sub.3 -C.sub.6 -cycloalkyl, C.sub.4 -C.sub.6 -cycloalkenyl, phenyl, --OR.sup.10, --S(O).sub.n R.sup.10, --OS(O).sub.n R.sup.10, --PO(OR.sup.10).sub.2, --NR.sup.3 R.sup.10, --Si(R.sup.10).sub.3 or --OCOR.sup.10, where the alkyl and cycloalkyl radicals mentioned and R.sup.3 and R.sup.10 of the radicals --OR.sup.10, --S(O).sub.n R.sup.10, --OS(O).sub.n R.sup.10, --PO(OR.sup.10).sub.2, --NR.sup.3 R.sup.10, --Si(R.sup.10).sub.3, --OCOR.sup.10 may be partially or fully halogenated and/or may carry one to three of the following groups: hydroxyl, mercapto, amino, cyano, R.sup.10, --OR.sup.10, --SR.sup.10, --NR.sup.3 R.sup.10, .dbd.NOR.sup.10, --OCOR.sup.10, --SCOR.sup.10, --NR.sup.3 COR.sup.10, --CO.sub.2 R.sup.10, --COSR.sup.10, --CONR.sup.3 R.sup.10, C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkyliminooxy, C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkoxyamino, C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkylcarbonyl, C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkoxy-C.sub.2 -C.sub.6 -alkoxycarbonyl, C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkylsulfonyl, heterocyclyl, heterocyclyloxy, phenyl, benzyl, hetaryl, phenoxy, benzyloxy and hetaryloxy, where the last eight radicals may in turn be substituted;
R.sup.4 and R.sup.5 together may form a C.sub.2 -C.sub.5 -alkylene- or C.sub.2 -C.sub.5 -alkenylene chain which may be interrupted once or twice by a nitrogen or an oxygen atom, or may form a group .dbd.X, where X is an oxygen atom or a group CR.sup.3 R.sup.10, NR.sup.10, NNR.sup.3 R.sup.10 or NOR.sup.10 ;
R.sup.6 and R.sup.7 together may form a C.sub.2 -C.sub.5 -alkylene- or C.sub.2 -C.sub.5 -alkenylene chain which may be interrupte
