BRIEF SUMMARY
The present invention relates to novel substituted 4,5-di(trifluoromethyl)pyrazoles of the formula I ##STR2## where the variables have the following meanings: R.sup.1 is C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkyl or C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -haloalkyl; -haloalkyl; --O--CO--X.sup.2 --R.sup.5, --N(X.sup.2 --R.sup.5) (X.sup.3 --R.sup.6), --N(X.sup.2 --R.sup.5)--SO.sub.2 --X.sup.3 --R.sup.6, --N(SO.sub.2 --X.sup.2 --R.sup.5)(SO.sub.2 --X.sup.3 --R.sup.6), --N(X.sup.2 --R.sup.5)(CO--X.sup.3 --R.sup.6), --N(X.sup.2 --R.sup.5)(O--X.sup.3 --R.sup.6), --S--X.sup.2 --R.sup.5 --SO--X.sup.2 --R.sup.5, --SO.sub.2 --X.sup.2 --R.sup.5, --SO.sub.2 --O--X.sup.2 --R.sup.5, --SO.sub.2 --N(X.sup.2 --R.sup.5) (X.sup.3 --R.sup.6), --CO--X.sup.2 --R.sup.5, --C(.dbd.NOR.sup.7)--X.sup.2 --R.sup.5, --CO--O--X.sup.2 --R.sup.5, --CO--S--X.sup.2 --R.sup.5, --CO--N(X.sup.2 --R.sup.5)(X.sup.3 --R.sup.6), or --CO--N(X.sup.2 --R.sup.5)(O--X.sup.3 --R.sup.6); bond or an ethene-1,2-diyl, methylene, ethylene or propane-1,3-diyl chain, each of which can be unsubstituted or have attached to it one or two of the following substituents: halogen, cyano, carboxyl, C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkyl, C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -haloalkyl, (C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkoxy)carbonyl, C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkoxy, di-(C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkyl)amino, C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 -haloalkyl and/or phenyl, which, in turn, can have attached to it, if desired, one to three halogen atoms, nitro, carboxyl, C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkyl, C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -haloalkyl and/or (C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkoxy)carbonyl groups,
it furthermore being possible for the methylene, ethylene or propane-1,3-diyl chain to have attached to it a hydroxyl, amino or C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkylamino radical; hydrogen, C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 -alkyl, C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 -haloalkyl, C.sub.2 -C.sub.6 -alkenyl, C.sub.2 -C.sub.6 -haloalkenyl, C.sub.2 -C.sub.6 -alkynyl, C.sub.2 -C.sub.6 -haloalkynyl, C.sub.3 -C.sub.8 -cycloalkyl which can contain a carbonyl or thiocarbonyl ring member, phenyl or 3- to 7-membered heterocyclyl which can contain a carbonyl or thiocarbonyl ring member, it being possible for the cycloalkyl rings, the phenyl ring and the heterocyclyl rings to be unsubstituted or to have attached to them one to four substituents, in each case selected from the group consisting of halogen, cyano, nitro, amino, hydroxyl, carboxyl, C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkyl, C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -haloalkyl, C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkoxy, C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -haloalkoxy, C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkylthio, C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -haloalkylthio, C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkylsulfonyl, C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -haloalkylsulfonyl, (C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkyl)carbonyl, (C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkoxy)carbonyl, (C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -haloalkyl)carbonyl, (C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkyl)carbonyloxy, (C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -haloalkyl)carbonyloxy and di-(C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkyl)amino; C.sub.2 -C.sub.6 -alkenyl, C.sub.2 -C.sub.6 -haloalkenyl, C.sub.2 -C.sub.6 -alkynyl, C.sub.2 -C.sub.6 -haloalkynyl, C.sub.3 -C.sub.8 -cycloalkyl, phenyl or phenyl-C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkyl; substituents, in each case selected from the group consisting of C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkyl, C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkoxy-C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkyl, C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkylthio-C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkyl, (C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkoxy)carbonyl-C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkyl and phenyl-C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkyl, it being possible for the phenyl ring to be unsubstituted or to have attached to it, in turn, one to three radicals, in each case selected from the group consisting of halogen, cyano, nitro, carboxyl, C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkyl, C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -haloalkyl and (C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkoxy)carbonyl; --N(R.sup.10)R.sup.10, --N(R.sup.9)--OR.sup.10, --SR.sup.9, --SO--R.sup.9, --SO.sub.2 --R.sup.9, --SO.sub.2 --OR.sup.9, --SO.sub.2 --N(R.sup.9)R.sup.10, --CO--R.sup.9, --C(.dbd.NOR.sup.11)--R.sup.9, --CO--OR.sup.9, --CO--SR.sup.9, --CO--N(R.sup.9)R.sup.10 or --CO--N(R.sup.9)--OR.sup.10 --; -C.sub.6 -alkyl, C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 -haloalkyl, C.sub.2 -C.sub.6 -alkenyl, C.sub.2 -C.sub.6 -haloalkenyl, C.sub.2 -C.sub.6 -alkynyl, C.sub.2 -C.sub.6 -haloalkynyl, C.sub.3 -Ce-cycloalkyl, C.sub.3 -C.sub.8 -cycloalkyl-C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkyl, phenyl,
