ABSTRACT:
Streptovaricinone C derivatives of the formula ##STR1## wherein Z is a C.sub.1.sub.-12 alkyl, an aryl, a hydroxyalkyl, an alkenyl, a ketonyl, a furyl-oxoalkyl, a thienyl-oxoalkyl, a phenacyl, a carbamylalkyl, a benzyl, a phenoxyalkyl, a cyanoalkyl, a phenethyl, a benzoyloxyethyl, a p-chlorophenacyl, a p-methoxyphenacyl, a p-nitrobenzyl, a p-methylbenzyl, an alkanoyl, a benzoyl, a benzenesulfonyl, an alkylsulfonyl or an alkoxycarbonyl group, are antibiotics.
