New steroidal polyamines have the structure of formula I or formula II: ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are independently N(R').sub.3.sup.+ or H in the .alpha.- or .beta.- position except both R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are not H;
