The present invention is directed to isolated bacteriophage having strong lytic activity against strains ofStaphylococcus aureus,in particular, MRSA, and methods of using that bacteriophage, and/or progeny or derivatives derived therefrom, to control the growth ofStaphylococcus aureusin various settings.
