An accommodative standoff holder10which can be used for both diagnostic and therapeutic ultrasound is disclosed. The described standoff holder10has the ability to be mounted on and utilized with transducers20of different sizes and shapes. The standoff holder10includes a gel insert26which is removable and self adjusting assuring contact between a human body, an animal, or other object and the acoustic window22of a transducer22.
