ABSTRACT:
A spindle motor control method stops a spindle motor which rotates in a forward direction in response to a rotation signal. The spindle motor control method includes two steps. First, a brake signal is supplied to the spindle motor for rotating the spindle motor in a reverse direction when stopping the spindle motor which rotates in the forward direction. Second, the rotation signal and the brake signal are put in an OFF state when a frequency generator signal FG, which indicates a rotational phase of the spindle motor and is generated based on an output of the spindle motor, is not detected for a predetermined time.
