ABSTRACT:
A spindle motor that can be reduced in size and thickness and yet develops a high rotational torque, and an information recording and/or reproducing apparatus employing this spindle motor. A rotor R includes a turntable50which carries and secures a disc-shaped recording medium D and which is rotatable relative to a fixed shaft66via a bearing, a ring-shaped first magnet60secured to the turntable50and arranged inwardly of a coil68having the fixed shaft66as center, and a ring-shaped second magnet62secured to the turntable50and arranged outwardly of the coil68having the fixed shaft66as center. The rotor R is rotated relative to the stator S, by a magnetic field generated in the coil68on supplying the current to the coil68and another magnetic field generated between the first and second magnets60and62.
