A speaker300is formed using a plate such as a mobile phone display window310as a vibrating element. At least two dynamic actuators950are positioned behind the edges of the window310to actuate the window310through its boundary region so as to leave a large uniform area behind the vibrating element for containing any components, e.g. a display or battery.
