ABSTRACT:
A spark shield is mounted within an ignition distributor to prevent damage to the components of the switch plate assembly. The spark shield is a circular, generally domed shaped membrane mounted in mating pockets of the switch plate assembly. Radial stiffening ribs project inwardly from the outer circumferential edge of the spark shield membrane.
