ABSTRACT:
The invention has an object to provide a connector10which achieves a reduced overall height of the order of 1.0 mm and space-saving substrate (in the inserting direction of a circuit board) and which obtains stable connection with a slight operating force and does not cause any defective connection even if a connecting object is accidentally subjected to an external force. The object is accomplished by a connector comprising substantially H-shaped contacts14each including a first piece28having a contact portion32and a pressure receiving portion34, a second piece30having a contact portion32and a connection portion36, and a jointing portion38connecting these first and second pieces, and further including holding device permitting pushing portions48of a pivoting member16to pivotally move between the pressure receiving portions34and the connection portions36, a housing12having a ceiling portion20formed at least at both ends with protection walls22for preventing the ceiling portion20from being upwardly deformed when the connecting object is accidentally forced upwardly, and the pivoting member16including the pushing portions48, anchoring holes50independently from one another and an actuating portion46which is pivotally moved toward a fitting opening18of the housing12to bring the contact portions32of the contacts14into contact with the connecting object.
