ABSTRACT:
The invention provides soluble complex forming agents suitable for specific separation of macromolecular substances and particularly of such biopolymers as nucleic acids. These agents contain soluble polymers, such as polyethyleneglycols of a molecular weight between 200 and 40,000, dextran of a molecular weight of 3.times.10.sup.-3 to 3.times.10.sup.-6 and linear polyacrylamides; to these soluble polymers at least one base specific group for nucleic acids is covalently bound. The bonding can be achieved by esterification, grafting, copolymerization or copolycondensation.
