ABSTRACT:
A solid state image pickup apparatus has a plurality of temporary accumulation capacitors and a plurality of photoelectric converting elements for accumulating optical information to be read out to the outside by multi-phase scanning pulses. The multi-phase scanning pulses scan the temporary accumulation capacitors to read out to the outside the optical information accumulated therein and the plurality of temporary accumulation capacitors are connected to the plurality of photoelectric converting elements so that the optical information read out from each photoelectric converting element is selectively accumulated in any one of the plurality of temporary accumulation capacitors.
