ABSTRACT:
The invention discloses an air-turborocket having a single set of compres blades extending radially from a common rotor. A shroud ring encircles the outer periphery of the compressor blades and holds a plurality of turbine blades on the outer periphery thereof which are driven by hot expanding fuel rich gases obtained from the partial combustion of a solid propellant in a first combustion chamber external to a compressor housing. The hot expanding fuel rich gases drive the turbine blades which drive the compressor blades thereby providing compressed air which is forcibly mixed by a mixer/diffuser with the hot expanding fuel rich gases for further combustion to provide thrust in a second combustion chamber aft to the compressor.
