Dyes having the structure ##STR1## A represents a substituted or unsubstituted nucleus selected from the group consisting of rhodanines, hydantoins, 2-thiohydantions, 4-thiohydantoins, 2,4-oxazolidindiones, 2-thio-2,4-oxazolidindiones, isoxazolinones, barbiturics, 2-thiobarbiturics, and indandiones, said nucleus having a carboxyphenyl substituent or sulfonamidophenyl substituent,
