ABSTRACT:
A solenoid is fitted with three dampers, two located on opposite sides of a flange in the solenoid and the third within the cell bore. The dampers allow movement of a plunger that supplies mechanical energy from electrical energy passed through the solenoid. The dampers absorb vibrational energy that would otherwise break apart the solenoid. In addition, a current path is provided between a positive electrical contact and a flange of the plunger, so arcing therebetween is reduced.
