A dual mode solar collector and absorber wherein a channel is afforded which may be variably connected to a high temperature reservoir and to a low temperature reservoir having the improvement of disposing the upper side of the channel to form a chamber which is in contact with the surrounding air only when the temperature is less than a predetermined value.
