ABSTRACT:
Sodium ion conducting glasses are disclosed that have a resistivity not over 10.sup.5 ohm cm. at 300.degree., are resistant to corrosive attack by liquid sodium, resist devitrification, are resistant to moisture, and are composed essentially of soda, alumina, silica, and boric oxide. The glasses are particularly useful in forming membranes to separate electrolytes in electrochemical cells such as the sodium-sulfur battery.
