ABSTRACT:
A soap solution suitable for use in an aqueous emulsion free radical polymerization system, comprising a resinous material characterized by having a softening point in the range of about 45.degree. C to about 100.degree. C having a basic resin backbone of piperylene and methyl branched monoolefins modified with maleic anhydride and subsequent neutralization with aqueous sodium hydroxide or potassium hydroxide to provide a final pH of about 8 to about 11.
