ABSTRACT:
A pipe joint is disclosed in which a pipe section having a bell end is joined to a pipe section having a spigot end and in which a split locking ring is provided for preventing the sections from separating. The locking ring may be expanded and contracted by means of a pair of lugs attached to the ends of the ring. A U-shaped nut is positioned on one of the lugs and a threaded fastener passes through each of the lugs and the U-shaped nut for engaging a threaded aperture in the nu to draw the lugs together, and an additional threaded nut is positioned on the fastener between the lugs for forcing the lugs apart.
