ABSTRACT:
A closure is provided for a container. The closure has a body for being mounted over the container opening and defines an orifice for communicating through the container opening with the container interior. The body also defines a pair of spaced-apart bearing cavities. A lid is mounted to the body with a pair of trunnions for each being received in one of the bearing cavities. A compression link member has first and second ends with the first end connected to the body and the second end pivotally connected to the lid at a location spaced from the trunnion axis. The bearing cavities are configured and located to provide a clearance at least on opposite sides of each trunnion when the compression link member is in the full open position and in the full closed position.
