ABSTRACT:
A slow ammonia release non-protein feed supplement that enables the use of higher level of a non-protein nitrogen source in ruminant feed is disclosed along with the process for making the same. In a preferred embodiment, a 38 wt. % calcium chloride solution is mixed with dry urea to produce a feed supplement having a ratio of nitrogen to calcium of from about 2.5:1 to about 4:1 and a salt out temperature between from about -40.degree. F. to -70.degree. F.
