ABSTRACT:
A sliding door assembly for a vehicle body has a first, slidable door hung from an upper slide rail, and this door may be swung from a closed position in a parallel plane with a second door to an open position. The first door is swung between open and closed positions by a hand-operated lever of a lever mechanism; the lever is rotatable about a pivot pin to actuate operating rods to pivot a carriage so that rollers on the carriage rest at 45.degree. to the horizontal when the first door is closed, with an upper part of the circumference of each roller being received in an elongate slot.
