ABSTRACT:
A slide-type electrical switching mechanism has a contact plate with plural U-shaped contact portions interconnected by a plurality of frangible portions. The plate is secured to the non-conductive switch housing by deforming portions of the housing over the contact plate. An elongated stationary contact strip is secured to the housing adjacent the contact plate. The frangible portions are punched out to form a plurality of discrete U-shaped contacts for switching purposes. A movable contact assembly continuously engages the contact strip and makes and breaks a circuit between the contact strip and one of the leg portions of each U-shaped contact.
