ABSTRACT:
The pyrazolone-pentamethine oxonol compound represented by the formula (Ib): ##STR1## in which A.sup.3 is methyl, ethyl or sulfoethyl; each of Q.sub.6 and Q.sub.7 independently is hydrogen, methyl, ethyl or sulfoethyl; M.sup.5 is sodium or potassium; and M.sup.6 is hydrogen, sodium or potassium.
