ABSTRACT:
A negative type silver halide photographic material and a method for processing the photographic material to form a super high contrast negative image are disclosed. The photographic material comprises a support and at least one emulsion layer on the support, said emulsion layer comprising silver halide grains comprising a core of silver halide containing silver iodide and a shell covering the core, said shell consisting essentially of silver bromide, silver chloride, or silver chlorobromide and having a thickness of from 0.01 to 0.08 .mu.m, wherein the emulsion layer or a hydrophilic colloid layer other than the emulsion layer of the photograpic material contains a hydrazine derivative.
