ABSTRACT:
A silver halide photographic material containing a dye that can be quickly decolored during development processing and can provide the light-sensitive material with excellent sharpness and less residual color. The light-sensitive material is characterized by having a hydrophilic colloid layer containing a dye represented by formula (I): ##STR1## wherein Z represents a group of non-metallic atoms necessary to form a 5 or 6-membered nitrogen-containing heterocyclic ring; R.sub.1, R.sub.2, .sub.3, R.sub.4 and R.sub.5 each represent a hydrogen atom or a monovalent group, and R.sub.3 and R.sub.4 and/or R.sub.4 and R.sub.5 may be combined to form a 5 or 6-membered ring; R.sub.6 represents an alkyl group, an alkenyl group or an aryl group; L.sub.1, L.sub.2, L.sub.3 and L.sub.4 each represent a methine group; X.sup.- represents an anion; m represents 1 or 2; n represents 0 or 1; and p represents 0, 1/2 or 1, provided that when the dye forms an intermolecular salt, p is 0.
