A silver halide color photographic material comprising a support having thereon at least one silver halide emulsion layer, wherein the silver halide color photographic material contains a magenta dye forming coupler represented by the general formula (I) and a compound represented by the general formula (II) in the same layer ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 is represents an aromatic group, an aliphatic group or a heterocyclic group; R.sub.2 represents a substituent; Za, Zb, Zc and Zd, which may be the same or different, each represents an unsubstituted methine group, a substituted methine group or --N.dbd.,
