ABSTRACT:
A method for preparing silk fibers crosslinked with an epoxy compound is disclosed. Silk fibers are soaked in an aqueous processing liquid containing a water-soluble epoxy compound and a catalyst wherein the solubility of the silk fiber is at most 30% by weight when the silk fiber is soaked in an aqueous 5 wt % sodium hydroxide solution at a temperature of 65.degree. C. for 60 minutes, and dyeing depth, K/S, at 520 nm with 9% owf of a red reactive dye, Color Index Reactive Red 63 at the temperature of 60.degree. C. for 60 minutes is at most 7.
