ABSTRACT:
The invention relates to a novel thermoplastic monoorganopolysiloxane resin comprising units of the formula RSiO.sub.1.5 and R.sub.1 R.sub.2 R.sub.3 SiO.sub.0.5 wherein R,R.sub.1,R.sub.2 and R.sub.3 are hydrogen, or organic groups which may be the same or different, at least 85% of the R groups in the RSiO.sub.1.5 being organic groups, and at least two of the groups R.sub.1, R.sub.2 and R.sub.3 in each R.sub.1 R.sub.2 R.sub.3 SiO.sub.0.5 unit being organic groups, and in which the ratio RSiO.sub.1.5 units to R.sub.1 R.sub.2 R.sub.3 SiO.sub.0.5 units is from 1:0.005 to 1:0.03 on a molar basis. Such resins are useful as electrical insulation material and as hold out agents for heat recoverable materials.
