ABSTRACT:
A CDMA mobile telecommunications system comprises a base station (20) having a radio channel connection to a mobile station (22). The base station (20) determines a signal to interference
oise ratio (SINR) with respect to the signal received from the mobile station (22), compares the signal to interference
oise ratio (SNR) for the mobile station (22) with a target signal to interference
oise ratio (TSINR), and transmits a power level command to the mobile station (22) in accordance with the comparison. A mobile switching center (24) generates information for updating the target signal to interference
oise ratio (TSINR)and transmits the information for updating the target signal to interference
oise ratio (TSINR) to the base station (20) using in-band signaling.
