ABSTRACT:
Sign1has frame13attaching to base9and supporting character plates4. Casing11attaches to frame13and holds character plates4against frame13. Light assembly15and base9backlight character plates4. Backlight is diffusion chamber17sidelit by light assembly15. Casing11hides access to the mount and is not easily removable. Light assembly15is externally powered and is activated by external messages and by low ambient light. An Emergency Alarm message causes flashing in one color and intermittent activation of sound. For non-emergency, alternate light mode is used with constant sound. Transmitter1501transmits messages for the sign1. The transmitter1501learns emergency telephone numbers for dial detection on a telephone line, in addition to standard emergency telephone number. Emergency button1507can begin transmission of emergency alarm message. Transmitter1501may have other alarm inputs.
