The sheet metal strip is formed of a cold-formable, high-strength steel material with a yield point of at least 980 N/mm.sup.2 and a tensile strength of about 1,250 N/mm.sup.2. The bottom of the bead has an essentially semicircular profile, and outer material strips of the sheet metal strip have edge recesses, which extend at least to the bead, directly adjoining the transition area.
