ABSTRACT:
A shutter for a developing cartridge for developing an electrostatic latent image formed on an electrophotographic photosensitive member, the developing cartridge being detachably mountable relative to a main assembly of an electrophotographic image forming apparatus, the improvement being that the shutter is movable between a covering position for covering a portion through which a developing member is exposed from a cartridge frame and a retracted position for exposing the developing member from the cartridge frame; and the shutter includes a developing cartridge discriminating portion which is capable of entering a main assembly side discriminating portion provided in the main assembly to discriminate the developing cartridge when the developing cartridge discriminating portion is aligned with the main assembly side discriminating portion, upon mounting of the developing cartridge to the main assembly.
