ABSTRACT:
A shoe construction in which an elastic gore is stitched to and runs from one side of the vamp to the other side across the throat of the shoe. The elastic gore is sandwiched between the tongue and the shoe lining, thereby hiding the gore from view, and preventing it from contacting the foot of the wearer. The gore, when contracted, shirrs the mid-section of the tongue.
