ABSTRACT:
A shock absorber drive unit for motor vehicles which translates the vertical reciprocating motion of the under carriage of a motor vehicle to one-way rotary motion through a rack and drive gears connected through one-way clutches to a gear train. Alternators driven by belts from the gear train provide sufficient drag to produce a shock absorbing action for the unit while simultaneously producing electricity for charging batteries or other uses.
