ABSTRACT:
A shock absorber preferably used for an automobile aims at inhibition of noise caused by self-induced vibration. The shock absorber includes a piston, a working cylinder for housing the piston; and a rod, one end of which being attached to the piston and the other end of which projecting from the working cylinder, wherein a friction coefficient μ between the piston and the working cylinder is represented by the formula μ≦3h2/rl, where, r is the radius of the piston; 2h is the height of the piston; and l is the length of a portion of the rod, which portion is stored in the working cylinder when the piston is neutral.
