ABSTRACT:
A shift timing control for an automatic transmission comprises a hydraulic passage having a first drain port, a first valve having a second drain port, and a second valve disposed between a low clutch release chamber and the hydraulic passage. The second valve selectivity connects the high clutch chamber with the low clutch release chamber in second gear so as to drain off hydraulic fluid within the high clutch chamber and the low clutch release chamber from the first drain port, and the low clutch release chamber with a band brake fourth gear apply chamber in third gear so as to drain off hydraulic fluid within the low clutch chamber and the band brake fourth gear apply chamber from the second drain port.
