ABSTRACT:
A shift lock device includes a locking mechanism for locking an engagement pin which is required to shift a shift lever from a parking position to a position other than the parking position under a desired condition, an actuator for releasing a locking condition of the locking mechanism, a control switch adapted to detect as to whether the shift lever is positioned in the parking position or not and generate a corresponding signal, and a controller being adapted to receive the signal from the control switch and generate a corresponding signal for controlling the actuator. The locking mechanism, the actuator, the control switch and the controller are enclosed in a housing.
