ABSTRACT:
Shield assemblies that are designed to be used with cultivators are disclosed. Shields are mounted to the assembly such that they are laterally rigid but vertically retractable. The shield assembly includes a paralleogram linkage system with a torque bar, to add stability, and slotted top links as well as a spring across the top and bottom link to facilitate pivotal movement of the shields. Each shield is mounted to at least two support portions; a first substantially vertical portion and a second portion which crosses the shield's main portion diagonally, thereby virtually eliminating rotation about either axis of the plane of the shield.
