ABSTRACT:
2-Methyl-1-propanol is difficult to separate from 1-butanol by conventional distillation or rectification because of the proximity of their boiling points. 2-Methyl-1-propanol can be easily separated from 1-butanol by azeotropic distillation. Effective agents are isobutyl acetate, methyl cyclohexane and 2-nitropropane.
