ABSTRACT:
A process for producing a deionizing resin, which comprises reacting an organic compound having at least one reactive hydroxy group and at least one active chelating site with an organic polymer matrix having at least one reactive --OH or --NH.sub.2 group, at a pH greater than 10.0 and thereby producing a polymer complex, washing the polymer complex with water followed by washing with a mineral acid solution and then again washing with water and thereby reducing the level of sodium, iron and chromium ions in the polymer complex to less than 500 ppb each.
